Your information, handled with care.

How Brilliant Shine collects, uses and protects your personal information, in line with South Africa's POPIA.

Last updated: 26 June 2026

This policy explains what personal information we collect when you contact us or use our website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have. We are committed to handling your information responsibly and in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

Who we are

Brilliant Shine (“we”, “us” and “our”) is a panel beating and spray painting workshop at 6 Alexander St, Kensington B, Randburg, 2194. We are the responsible party for the personal information described in this policy, as defined in POPIA.

For any question or request about your personal information, email us at admin@brilliantshine.co.za.

The information we collect

We only collect what we need to quote for, carry out and stand behind your repair:

  • Details you give us when you request a quote, by our online form, on WhatsApp, by email or phone, or in person: your name, contact number, email address, and information about your vehicle and the damage. This can include your vehicle make and model, its VIN, and photographs you choose to send us, including a photo of your licence disc and photos of the damage.
  • Insurance and claim details, where your repair goes through insurance, such as your insurer's name, your claim number and related correspondence.
  • Limited technical information collected automatically when you visit our website, such as your device type, browser, approximate region and the pages you view. We use Vercel Analytics for this, which is privacy-friendly and does not use cookies to follow you across other websites.

We do not deliberately collect special personal information or information about children. Please do not send us more than we need to help you.

Why we use your information

We process your personal information to:

  • prepare an accurate, itemised quote and respond to your enquiry;
  • carry out and manage your repair, and keep you updated on its progress;
  • order the correct parts and match your vehicle's factory paint;
  • help with insurance claim quotes and documentation where you ask us to;
  • keep records for accounting, warranty and legal purposes; and
  • run, maintain and improve our website.

Our lawful basis for this is some combination of your consent, the performance of our agreement with you, our legitimate interest in running the business properly, and our legal obligations.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as far as we need to in order to provide our service, with:

  • service providers who help us operate, such as our email delivery provider (Resend) and our website host (Vercel);
  • parts suppliers and, where relevant, your insurer or its appointed assessor, so the repair can be carried out and settled; and
  • professional advisers or authorities, where the law requires it.

These parties may only use your information to perform their service for us, not for their own purposes.

Information sent outside South Africa

Some of our service providers, for example our email and hosting providers, may store or process information on servers outside South Africa. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is protected by a comparable level of security, as POPIA requires.

WhatsApp and third-party services

If you contact us through WhatsApp, your message is also handled by WhatsApp (Meta) under its own terms and privacy policy. Our website may also link to or embed third-party services, such as a Google Maps view of our workshop. Those services have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.

How long we keep it

We keep your personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, including any period required to honour your warranty and to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations. When we no longer need it, we delete or anonymise it.

How we protect it

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to keep your personal information secure and to guard against loss, misuse or unauthorised access. No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we work to protect your information and to act quickly if a problem arises.

Your rights

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy;
  • ask us to correct or update information that is wrong or out of date;
  • ask us to delete information we no longer have a reason to keep;
  • object to certain processing of your information; and
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it.

To exercise any of these, contact us at admin@brilliantshine.co.za. We will respond as soon as we reasonably can.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa). Their current contact details and complaint forms are available at inforegulator.org.za.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
